New Waterloo is seeking a talented and passionate Chief Engineer for a 97 key lifestyle hotel in Cleveland, Ohio for a September 3rd start date.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Chief Engineer will elevate the focus within the Engineering department, implementing effective strategies and systems to ensure department performance. The Property Maintenance Manager will work closely with the hotel property General Manager, and other management teams to ensure consistent policies and procedures are being adhered to and short and long-term organizational goals are being met.

What you'll do:

  • Obtain knowledge of hotel departments including engineering, housekeeping, and food service operations
  • Ensure the hotel's maintenance and upkeep standards meet New Waterloo standards
  • Proactively follow specific departmental procedures in performing repair, maintenance, alteration, and installation work in a safe and neat manner
  • Comply with the latest insurance, local county, state, and federal government codes, laws, and requirements
  • Determine defects, troubleshoot malfunctions, take necessary corrective action, and record same following specific departmental procedures
  • Initiate training of new department associates on equipment and the daily functions of the hotel
  • Identifying and schedule repair on all mechanical failure to include repair of appliances, HVAC, electrical or plumbing; follow through of procedures on equipment maintenance where applicable as directed by management
  • Function as a member of the emergency organization team and become an expert on life safety system, fire, safety, and protection equipment/hazards
  • Organize and complete preventive maintenance programs on guest rooms and equipment, and ensure all potential safety hazards are corrected
  • Delegate, supervise, and participate in all preventive and general maintenance programs by maintaining a rooms maintenance strategy and scheduling preventive maintenance
  • Plan and schedule corrective maintenance and project work and maintain tracking data check sheet and logs
  • Coordinate the operation and maintenance of all interior and exterior structural fixtures and mechanical equipment to coincide with New Waterloo standards
  • Control operating costs by effectively tracking expenses, fixed monthly costs, and any/all purchases for the engineering department
  • Review and evaluate utility-reports with input on energy conservation
  • Ensure an adequate supply of spare parts in inventory and order replacements as needed, when budgeted expenses permit
  • Monitor and perform test systems as necessary, be fully informed of the system operation and to handle emergencies involving the systems
  • Have a working knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems
  • Be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect our guests and associates, and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency
