Job Description:
Client is seeking an experienced Electrical Field Engineer to support two renewable solar projects in the Southern Colorado region near the Comanche plant in Pueblo, CO. The E&C Engineer will be responsible for enforcing project specifications and ensuring compliance with construction and design plans while working closely with the EPC contractor and project teams. This is a field-based role requiring travel to project sites for approximately 3 days per week, with the opportunity for remote work the remaining days. The role is a 12-month contract with a high likelihood of extension and potential for permanent hire.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site engineering support for two solar projects, working closely with field inspectors, EPC contractors, and other project team members.
  • Ensure construction is compliant with design specifications and address non-compliance reports (NCRs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Interpret and manage design drawings and specifications, providing guidance to contractors and field teams.
  • Collaborate with the lead electrical engineer and project manager to resolve design conflicts and ensure project alignment.
  • Manage the scope of contracts and ensure all construction work adheres to Client quality standards.
  • Utilize ProjectWise, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam for technical reviews, with SAP experience as a plus.
Team Collaboration
This role will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including EPC contractors, construction managers, field inspectors, and the lead electrical engineer. The project team consists of construction managers, cost and scheduling staff, and various field personnel.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Experience: 5-7 years of electrical engineering experience, with at least 2-3 years working in renewable energy projects (solar, wind, or other).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and analytical thinking.
  • Familiarity with managing RFIs, NCRs, and construction compliance processes.
  • Experience working in large, matrixed organizations with cross-functional collaboration.
