Inside the Role
Department:
DTNA's Powertrain department within Chassis Engineering is a fast moving and rewarding new product development group responsible for integration of powertrain systems and development of cab and engine/powertrain suspensions. This position will provide career development and experience in a wide range of project activities including concept development, finalized part design and validation, project management, supplier management, and resource coordination.
Purpose:
Design and develop engine mount structural components and overall powertrain mounting system used on traditional ICE vehicles and future propulsion technology platforms.

What You Drive at DTNA
  • Lead development work, problem resolution, and design of engine mount components and systems for heavy duty & medium duty vehicles.
  • Analyze and provide creative, technically-feasible solutions to problems encountered in validation and production. Promptly resolve plant build issues.
  • Interface with suppliers in the design/development phase, prototype part procurement, production tool build, and into series production.
  • Collaborate with design & manufacturing engineering colleagues, product strategy & marketing to develop products that meet technical/functional specifications as well as cost/efficiency targets.
  • Support future propulsion technologies such as Fuel Cell & H2 ICE with mounting & isolation concepts.
  • Use NX CAD system to create and maintain 3D part designs, detailed 2D part/assembly drawings, GD&T, packaging studies, and installation diagrams.
  • Work with Product Validation to verify powertrain NVH & durability of engine mount systems are achieved.
  • Prioritize assignments consistent with business goals and successfully implement projects on time and within budget. Proactively inform management of project issues, delays and risks.
  • Demonstrate good judgment when working with suppliers, purchasing, materials, manufacturing, quality, warranty, marketing, and other design departments in the product development, testing, and production launch phases.
  • Use analytical thought to independently solve complex problems and identify solutions, with minimal guidance
  • Participate in implementation of cross-functional ideas to continuously improve work environment, systems, tools, processes as well as product cost and quality.
Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical discipline with 5-7 years of relevant experience or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Demonstrated strong verbal & written skills including preparing & giving presentations
  • Demonstrated CAD skills (NX)
  • Experience leading projects and managing project deliverables
  • Understanding of engineering & upstream/downstream processes
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering
  • Team lead / supervisory experience
  • Basic understanding of powertrain mounting & isolation components used in heavy truck applications.
