- Prepare Storm Water Management Reports and culvert/bridge hydrologic & hydraulic studies
- Coordinate permitting through various water management districts
- Participate in project development meetings with client teams
- Provide professional design services for transportation improvement projects, including storm drains, culverts, storm water management, green stormwater, ESD/LID facilities, and erosion and sediment control.
- Coordinate design development and assist with technical direction of junior staff
- Achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget
- Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
- Establishing working relationships and interfacing with client technical staff and project managers
- Mentoring supporting water resource design staff
**The ideal candidate is an individual who is a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and possesses a solid understanding of water resources and civil engineering principles.
The candidate will be designing independently and mentoring junior staff members for successful project outcome. Additionally, will also have opportunities to assist our transportation design efforts, providing geometric design for road and bridge projects (these skills are not required and can be learned on numerous projects).
Responsibilities include:
- Using hydrologic and hydraulic software such as Geopak Drainage, StormCAD, and HEC-RAS modeling
- Using CADD and mapping software including MicroStation, AutoCAD, and ESRI ArcGIS
- submitting NPDES permit requirements of municipalities and other government entities
- Strong inter-personal skills for client and other engineering discipline interaction
- Experience in the North Carolina transportation field is desirable due to the unique nature of Erosion/Sediment Control and Stormwater Management permitting
- Candidate should possess knowledge and experience of NC Department of Transportation and Local government design and permitting requirements
Required Skills:
- The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a master's degree in Engineering is a plus (Civil, Biological, Agricultural, or another related discipline)
- A minimum of 8 years of experience of Water Resources and Storm Water Design Engineering - design of storm drains, culverts, storm water management, BMPs, erosion and sediment control, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and Floodplain studies, and environmental permitting, along with cost estimating
- NC PE license is required
Compensation Range:
