ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Civil Engineer will lead project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects. The Civil Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting civil plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs. It is preferred that the successful candidate have experience working with at least one of the following entities: Federal, state, and local governments.

Job Functions:

  • Performs site development design for grading, drainage, sewer, water, erosion control, and road design.
  • Leads a project team consisting of engineers, designers, and field personnel involved in the design, modification, analysis, and constructability.
  • Works on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of engineering and construction related issues.
  • Acts as a team lead in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of utility engineering work.
  • Prepares, reviews and/or approve proposals, contracts, or cost estimates.
  • Negotiates revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with sub-consultants, and clients.
  • Performs and/or oversee designs for underground and overhead powers installations.
  • Leads efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
  • Coordinates design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
  • Interfaces with vendors to prepare materials and equipment purchase specifications for client recommendations.
  • Researches available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems to utilize for the execution of required project designs.
  • Prepares reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements.
  • Performs independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program; required
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or having passed the FE exam with ability to become licensed engineer within a year of hire
  • Previous Federal Government project design experience; preferred
  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of design best practices
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prepare reports and edit proposals
  • Experience in MicroStation, Civil 3D, and civil analysis programs
  • Existing local area industry and vendor relationships preferred but not desired
  • Job requires a background check and drug test
  • Must possess a government-issued Common Access Card (CAC) or qualify to pass background check for the purpose of obtaining a CAC
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities and short deadlines
