How you’ll make an impact:

We are seeking a Network Staff Engineer to merge an engineering mindset with practical experience, driving strategic alignment between AWS Cloud and our business objectives. This pivotal role will accelerate value delivery and optimize our network solutions according to customer needs and organizational goals. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in networking and innovative network architecture across varied market structures. This position will be either hybrid (2 days in the office) or fully remote, to be determined at hire.


What you’ll do:

As a Network Staff Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, configuring, implementing, and supporting our AWS Cloud network solutions. Your responsibilities will include providing senior-level technical leadership and contributing to the development of network architectures and strategies. You will work closely with stakeholders to advance our network technology stack. This encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including:

System Design & Implementation: Develop and manage solutions involving AWS CloudFormation Templates, Aviatrix Multi-Cloud Configuration, Automation Tools (Python, Terraform), Palo Alto, and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA).

Technical Leadership: Offer expert guidance and collaborate with IT leaders and business stakeholders. Lead data center project design and ensure alignment with business goals and technical requirements.

Advanced Technical Support: Provide high-level support, including design, configuration, troubleshooting, and problem management. Work with vendors and cross-functional teams on the collective network technology integration. In addition, you will challenge, report, and advance as necessary to resolve any issues affecting the availability, security, or integrity of the network infrastructure

Strategic Collaboration: Engage with customers and internal partners throughout project lifecycles, offering platform configuration guidance and best practices. Assess and triage application owner/customer requests within the context of the AWS infrastructure stack (compute/networking/storage) to further modernize and secure overall architecture in the environment.

Solution Crafting: Develop and propose solutions that leverage AWS to address critical business challenges and deliver substantial value. Then be able to present complex AWS network solutions to diverse audiences within customer organizations.

Security Collaboration: Collaborate with the security team to implement and maintain robust measures protecting sensitive data from unauthorized access or cyber threats. In addition, evaluate and prioritize application owner/customer requests related to AWS infrastructure (compute/networking/storage) to modernize and secure architecture.


What you'll need:

This role is for an experienced network engineer with advanced skills in cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and network security. It requires a blend of deep technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a strong background in both on-premises and cloud networking environments. The emphasis on certifications and extensive experience highlights the seniority and specialization of the position.

Certifications: AWS certification in Network Engineering, Advanced Networking, and/or Solutions Architect is required.

Experience: 7+ years in Network IT Infrastructure, with focus on implementing or managing AWS Cloud solutions and related on-premises or co-located solutions.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Technical Expertise: Demonstrated capability in migrating complex network infrastructure to AWS Cloud and resolving intricate technical issues. Extensive experience with Aviatrix for managing multi-cloud networking solutions. Proficient in automation tools such as Python and Terraform for network configuration and management. In addition, a comprehensive understanding of the networking stack (routing, switching, and optical networking), Linux networking, open-source solutions, and best practices for network design in cloud environments. Experience with automation tools (e.g., Python, Terraform) for network configuration and management

Cloud Infrastructure Management: Expertise in AWS CloudFormation and associated scripting using CI/CD methodologies to automate deployment processes. Hands-on experience with cloud networking services like VPCs, Direct Connect, VPN gateways, transit gateways, network firewalls, and web application firewalls across AWS and other major cloud platforms. Extensive experience in designing and implementing ZTNA solutions, including architecture, migration, and full-stack administration.

Network Security: Deep knowledge of network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and monitoring tools within cloud environments. Experience in administering and deploying Palo Alto networks. In addition, an in-depth knowledge of network security principles, protocols, and best practices for secure network design and implementation in the cloud.

Network Engineering Leadership: Proven leadership in network engineering with expertise in software-defined and cloud-native networking technologies. In-depth knowledge of Layer 2-3 control and network data management planes. In addition, have the proven ability to lead a highly technical team and effectively communicate with cross-functional teams, product managers, and executives.

Advanced Education: Master’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Technology, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Programming and API Development: Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, or experience with API development for network automation is advantageous.

Data Center Experience: Familiarity with operating in a data center environment, including experience with multiple vendor systems.

Virtualization and Networking: Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and networking technologies. Networking experience with Session Border Controller (SBC’s).

Cybersecurity Expertise: Strong grasp of cybersecurity principles with a track record of implementing security controls and ensuring compliance in cloud environments.
