In this position, you will work closely with scientists and other engineers to build out our global suite of advanced earthquake models.ResponsibilitiesConduct literature surveys of geohazards related to earthquakes, implementing new studies for loss modeling applicationsCollect, compile, and analyze loss data regarding earthquakes, liquefaction, etc.Perform validation tests on model loss estimatesContribute to preparing technical documents and presentations related to scientific modelsConduct post-event damage surveys for natural disasters around the worldQualificationsMaster's degree in Geotechnical or Earthquake Engineering required, PhD preferredKnowledge of ground motion; ability to understand and implement ground motion prediction equations (GMPEs) is requiredKnowledge of building response to and damage from natural hazards is a plusExperience with QGIS or ArcGIS software is a plusExcellent oral and written communication skills, keen orientation to detail, an eye for professional presentation, and recognized organizational abilitiesKnowledge and experience in statistics and probability is a plusAbility to travel within the US or internationally with little advance noticeExperience in catastrophe modeling a plusKnowledge of C# programming language a plusAbout KCCKaren Clark & Company (KCC) is the innovation and technology leader in weather, climate, and catastrophe risk modeling.
