W. H. Leary is growing and adding to our team a full time, Vision Software Engineer. In this role, you will be the project owner and technical expert in designing and evolving our vision system in LabView for the folding carton and bag manufacturing industries. This work consists of real time image processing, a graphical user interface program, TCP communication between applications and the supporting hardware. This engaging position requires an insightful problem solver who is committed to achieving corporate goals and objectives.

Your responsibilities as a Vision Software Engineer include:

  1. Develop LabVIEW code modules, components, and libraries
  2. Assisting with design concepts of new products and applications
  3. Testing the designs of equipment, products, and systems
  4. Evaluating and reporting on new vendor products and prototypes
  5. Developing, setting up, and testing real-world scenarios
  6. Integrating multiple components for testing on a single platform
  7. Making recommendations to improve programs and processes

Your qualifications must consist of:

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering
  2. Minimum 5 years professional experience in related work
  3. Proficiency in LabVIEW G Dataflow graphical programming
  4. Proficiency in LabVIEW hardware integration
  5. Experience in real time applications
  6. Experience in image processing systems
  7. Experience in TCP/IP communication
  8. Experience in text-based programming (C/C++/C# preferred)
  9. Knowledge of internal vision hardware and designs, optics, and camera logic
  10. Comfortable with software toolchains and build systems

It would be great if you possess:

  1. Exposure to OpenCV, MIL, or another machine vision library
  2. Understanding of multiples OS’s, including Windows, Linux, Windows Embedded, or NI-OS
  3. Familiarity with machine learning algorithms for vision problems
  4. Strong personal self-discipline as well as the ability to work independently
  5. The love of highly technical hands-on work
