Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer in Project Support will focus on capacity additions and line installations from a mechanical perspective. This role involves leading and participating in manufacturing engineering projects, supporting teams, and proactively identifying and resolving technical issues related to equipment and processes.

Responsibilities
Scope of Position:
- Lead and participate in manufacturing engineering projects related to capacity installations, equipment debugging, and preparing lines/associated parts for Operations Receivership.
- Provide mechanical expertise to identify technical problems through root cause analysis and implement robust industrial solutions for line debugging and installations.
- Leverage mechanical engineering knowledge to enhance equipment and manufacturing process performance.
- Support and lead new equipment/process introductions, as well as opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Develop and execute project plans to ensure timely and error-free mechanical support for multi-line equipment installations.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to resolve technical issues while safeguarding project scope, timing, and cost metrics.
- Work across various functional groups daily to achieve project goals.
- Maintain safe work practices and inform team members of any hazardous conditions.
- Design and implement mechanical solutions and process changes to enhance manufacturing equipment capabilities.
- Manage activities to meet milestone and timeline objectives for successful capacity additions.
- Solve mechanical and process issues through data analysis and collaboration with subject matter experts.
- Oversee spare part identification and storeroom entry, ensuring availability within the plant footprint.
- Develop and update engineering and operations documentation.
- Support training for the operations workforce regarding equipment and operational changes.
- Project locations will include Newton, NC, and Hickory, NC.
- 40 hours per week (overtime expected). Due to project timing, overtime and periodic off-hours coverage may be necessary to complete workload and collaborate with team members.
Required Education:
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in new equipment installations within a manufacturing environment. Start-up experience is a plus.
- Experience with project expansions and new equipment installations in a fast-paced, changing environment with multiple priorities.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and processes.
- Strong technical fundamentals in mechanical engineering.
- Capacity to multitask and prioritize independently in a dynamic project installation environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other PC software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Project leadership/management experience, including milestone management and financial oversight.
- Experience in vendor/supplier management both on-site and off-site.
- Familiarity with CAD software.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Capability to allocate and supervise resources to meet aggressive project milestones and timelines.
- Flexibility to shift tasks quickly and prioritize effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
