JOB SUMMARY
The Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer (onsite San Diego ) is critical as we enter the next phase of our evolution. This is a highly technical role, with the candidate expected to serve as both an evangelist and a critical contributor to the infrastructure required for building compelling products.

As Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer , you will own the development operations (DevOps ) function to support instrument software, cloud, mobile, and other informatics development programs. You will also be responsible for supporting on-market products post-launch.

This role is responsible for leading and implementing the toolset and infrastructure architecture and design process, defining and executing the vision and relevant cross-cutting concerns that drive DevOps needs, and identifying components, frameworks, and best-in-class patterns for integration within the software products.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • The individual will define and deploy the cloud and network infrastructure that powers internal and external on-premises/cloud-based products and services.
  • Be responsible for capturing, documenting, and maintaining the details around cloud/network infrastructure, toolset, automation pipelines, databases, and integration/deployment pipelines.
  • Work with product owners, developers, and engineers to support development, integration, and deployment processes.
  • Manage operating systems, databases, and containers that support internal/external processes and products.
  • Integrate cybersecurity practices in everything you do.
  • Implement and/or develop reusable frameworks/modules and instruct developers/engineers on how to use them best.
  • Focus on problem-solving and solution development with an emphasis on results.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of developers and engineers to right-size the solution(s) and effectively manage the changes.
  • Create repeatable and scalable processes.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Bachelor's degree in computer science/computer engineering or related degree.
Senior level minimum of 8 years of experience; Staff level minimum of 12 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Product Engineer, or similar role.Industry experience with Medical Device / IVD is highly sought after.

  • Experience architecting and managing a sizable footprint within one or more cloud vendors (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Extensive experience with Windows and Linux instance configuration and management (group policies, OS imaging, configuration management, patch management).
  • Extensive experience creating, deploying, and managing to build and deploy pipelines using systems such as Azure DevOps, NuGet, Puppet, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, etc.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of designing and managing fault-tolerant/high-availability database solutions (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Strong proficiency with one or more development/scripting languages (PowerShell, C#, Python, Bash, etc.).
  • Experience with performance/log monitoring and load testing tools (CloudWatch, JMeter, Azure App Insights, SumoLogic, Splunk, SolarWinds, Datadog, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of security concepts, including auditing and logging, identity and access management, and data protection.
  • Experience working within Agile-based projects, managing work with Scrum and Kanban tools such as Jira.
  • Proven track record of problem-solving, enabling business to succeed.
  • Excellent communication skills in explaining methodology and functionality, listening to end-users, and matching implementation to customer needs.
  • Self-starter who understands startup mentality (i.e., no job too small).
  • Experience in regulated environments (FDA) is preferred.
  • Preferred prior experience with building products to meet privacy (HI-TRUST for HIPAA) and security requirements across multiple frameworks (NIST, FIPS 140, other).

SALARY RANGE

  • Sr. DevOps Engineer - $140,000 - $156,000 Annually
  • Staff DevOps Engineer - $168,000 to $185,000 Annually


This range considers the factors considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience. Placement within the compensation range is determined by internal equity and relevant qualifications.
