Key Job Responsibilities

1. Developing distributed system software
2. API development
3. Building new products and services from the ground up
4. Developing prototypes at the right level of fidelity for each phase of development, from startup through launch and beyond
5. Proactively engage fellow Amazonians both inside and outside of your team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. 5+ years of non-professional software development experience
2. 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming experience
3. 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
4. Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

QUALIFICATIONS

1. 8+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
2. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
3. Strong knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
4. Experience developing complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
5. Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
6. Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
7. Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
8. Experience mentoring junior software development engineers and driving engineering excellence
9. Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
10. Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
