Senior Environmental Engineer

Job Description:

Pay Range: $120,000 - $125,000 per year

Requirements:

1. Under general supervision, provides technical expertise, guidance, and leadership for Environmental projects and programs at assigned site.
2. Determines and assesses environmental risk and develops regulatory documentation of results.
3. Performs hazardous waste site inspections and recommends appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations.
4. Reviews and develops appropriate recommendations regarding planned expansion, modification or closure of facilities which affect environmental discharges, emissions, and hazardous materials.
5. Serves as Project Manager or technical expert on large/complex environmental projects (e.g., compliance, remediation, or reclamation).
6. Evaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
7. Provides guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices, and existing/proposed local, state, and federal regulations.
8. Contributes to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for environmental systems and issues.
9. Maintains current working knowledge of Federal, State, and local environmental and occupational health regulations (e.g., CERCLA, NEPA, SARA, RCRA, Clean Air and Water Acts).
10. Provides leadership to less experienced engineers and technicians.
11. May represent the site on company-sponsored steering teams.
12. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

1. Senior Environmental Scientist.
2. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Earth Science or related Natural Science (such as Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Hydrology, Forestry, Agriculture, Meteorology, Environmental/Natural Resource Management), or Mathematics/Computer Science including Accounting and Finance, or Business Management, or other bachelor's degree and five (5) years of related experience, OR.
3. Master's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience.
4. Senior Environmental Engineer.
5. Bachelor's degree in Engineering (such as Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agriculture, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological, or similar Engineering discipline) and five (5) years of Engineering experience in Environmental Management, including Project Management experience, OR.
6. Master's degree in Engineering (such as Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agricultural, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological, or similar Engineering discipline) and three (3) years of Engineering experience in Environmental Management, including Project Management experience.
7. Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred (US examples include HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS, Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, CHMM).
8. Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification.
9. Knowledge and experience in Colorado water compliance regulations including industrial, municipal, and potable water treatment, SWPPP, SPCC, and permitting.
10. Ability to communicate effectively and influentially both orally and in writing. This includes experience with technical writing and reviewing.
11. Experience with analyzing and interpreting water quality results for groundwater, stormwater, potable water, and industrial water.
12. Experience in managing biodiversity, reclamation, and waste management programs.
13. Experience in Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001 certification, including risk assessment/management.
14. Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement.
15. Able to analyze a wide range of soil and water samples to recognize potential environmental hazards both in the field and office setting.
16. Competency in managing complex projects including creating a scope of work, forecast/budget, schedule, and managing safety expectations.
