Job Requirements / Description

This position is responsible for transitioning polymer projects through the internal pilot plant to full scale production locations. This includes traveling to production plants to support polymer batches and leveraging knowledge to the operators and technical staff. In this position, the individual will lead multiple diverse projects and leveraging their knowledge of latex processing as well as plant equipment and processes.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. - Work with operations to install new and existing polymer formulas at internal polymer plants to produce consistent polymers at production location(s).
- Supports all aspects of manufacturing commercial polymers.
- Develops polymer processes for assigned site
- Works on several complex projects at the same time
- Overcomes potential obstacles to meet customer timelines.
- Works directly with cross functional teams to support the polymer business.
- Makes polymer batches in the lab and follows batches at the production scale.
- Troubleshoots new and existing formulas, implements suggestions
- Utilize mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to work manufacturing equipment.
- Supports operational recommendations and continuous improvement on projects.
- Communicates heavily with various parts of the polymer business unit and technical teams.
- Uses root cause analysis to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Develops work plans and timelines for projects.
- Writes technical reports for processes and scale-ups.
- Supports toll manufacturing customers and serves as primary technical contact on key accounts.

FORMAL EDUCATION:
Required:
BS/BA in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics field

Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline, Chemistry or Polymer Science


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- 1 years direct experience in polymer operations, process engineering experience, or related field
- Assists in resolving complex problems and develops the solution of problems, formulation, development, process, maintenance, and equipment issues
- Works independently through planning, execution, analysis, documentation and application of work consistently providing quality work
- Demonstrated leadership skills, relationship building, and decision making ability
- Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and project management skills

Preferred:
- 2 or more years of direct experience in latex polymer operations, engineering, or related field
- DFSS, ARC, and 6-Sigma certification
- 2 years' experience in Process Engineering
- Conducts Free Radical polymerization
