THE ROLE: Sensus, a Xylem brand, seeks to hire a Manager of Technical Sales with a focus on Gas metrology and AMI. In this role, one will be required to provide presale and post-sale technical expertise for software and hardware demonstrations and logistics. The successful applicant for this position will be responsible for support of the field sales effort by providing strong technical knowledge, demonstration, and Q&A responses for the FlexNet AMI/Smart Grid system.
This is a customer facing role, requiring the applicant to be extremely Professional, Energetic and outgoing with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist Utility customers in defining configurations of meters and other FlexNet endpoints.
- Assist Utility customers in the testing and acceptance of first article meters.
- Assist Field Sales Directors in capturing new FlexNet System business.
- Provide onsite and remote technical expertise in all aspects of the FlexNet System.
- Coordinate technical responses for sales opportunities from Sensus engineering, product marketing, quality assurance, and RFP response teams.
- Conduct effective training for field sales or others associated with the selling or servicing of FlexNet System products.
- Assist in attaining annual sales revenue and profit plan goals.
- Develop a full understanding of market conditions, with a special emphasis on regional market conditions and then consistently communicate those conditions to Marketing.
- Assist Marketing and Engineering to develop winning strategies for the overall benefit of Sensus USA, Inc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other technical field.
- Electric, Water and/or Gas Metering System experience
- Demonstrated track record in complex solution environments
- 5-10 years of Utility Industry experience
- Must be willing to travel extensively (70% or more).
- Ability to coach the entire sales channel thru the sales process at all levels within the utility.
- Excellent training and communication skills that include the ability to train all levels of the sales channel and within the utility.
- Ability to function autonomously in the Promotion, Sale, Application and Problem Solving required in all aspects of Sensus systems.
- Strong work ethic. Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment as each situation requires.
- Must have fluent web-based Presentation Skills: PowerPoint, WebEx, GoToMeeting, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Utility Gas Metering Knowledge
- Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) experience
- Experience in promoting, demonstrating and/or supporting existing AMI systems from Sensus, Itron, L+G, or Elster
- Experience with Software Systems Integration with Utility Systems
- Radio Frequency (RF) Network Technical and Sales knowledge and experience
- Solutions based sales experience a plus
- SQL knowledge
- com system knowledge and experience
