Automation Engineer – Manufacturing Systems Implementation

The Automation Engineer will support the implementation of advanced manufacturing equipment systems for a client primarily based in Keene, NH, with occasional travel to Cambridge, Ontario, and Southington, CT. The primary focus will be on providing production support to the Keene Operations team, assisting with the implementation of high-speed automation lines, batch washing/siliconization systems, and other automated equipment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports design reviews, equipment debugging, acceptance testing, and validation activities for equipment developed by external suppliers.
  • Assists with the decommissioning of equipment at the Keene site and recommissioning at the Southington site.
  • Provides production support to the Keene operations as needed.


Additional Potential Responsibilities:

  • Supports project scope, deliverables, schedules, and teams for Bill of Materials (BoMs) and Bill of Processes (BoPs) in automation projects.
  • Participates in the development and evaluation of RFPs and vendor analysis for general contracting and engineering services.
  • Works with project controls to prepare and update project status, schedules, resource allocations, and cost reports.
  • Identifies and oversees system integrations.
  • Coordinates and supports engineering and automation design, commissioning, qualification, and QA/Validation groups as necessary.
  • Proactively identifies and recommends process improvements.
  • Represents the Project Automation group with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Provides status updates on projects to Automation Management as required.


Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience as an Automation Engineer in a medical device manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with validation processes, including IQ, OQ, PQ, and TMVs.
  • Strong background in automation control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, Servos, and Robots.
  • Proficiency with standard MS Office tools.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with internet navigation, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Teams, SharePoint), and Adobe Acrobat.


Desired Qualifications (Not Mandatory):

  • Basic knowledge of statistical analysis, including GR&Rs and process capability.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley programming.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and provide recommendations.
  • Experience communicating with and supporting Executive Management while managing multiple projects.
  • Flexibility to work outside core business hours when necessary.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with both quantitative and qualitative variables.
  • Ability to lead and influence others to achieve company objectives.
  • Excellent decision-making and cross-functional team-building skills.
  • Solid understanding of GMP, GLP, and non-GMP project requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering plans and specifications.
