As a principal site reliability engineer, you'll help translate high-level concepts into action, and act as a force multiplier within the team as we build our innovative web, desktop, and mobile apps. In this role you will provide technical leadership, as well as provide direct individual contribution, across cross-functional software, infrastructure, data, security, and product teams to ensure we deliver the most reliable and stable solution possible.

As a Principal SRE , you'll lead the work of our infrastructure team, providing both technical and architectural leadership. Your responsibilities will include hands-on work in Terraform, Kubernetes, AWS, PostgreSQL, Go, Python and other technologies, architecture definition for yourself and the members on your team, contributing to your team's growth, and participating in roadmap planning and delivering high value, transformative software solutions.

Role Summary
As a Principal SRE , you'll lead the work of our infrastructure team, providing both technical and architectural leadership. Key Responsibilities
- Leveraging your own and the team's skills to be a force multiplier while building and scaling our backend services.
- Mentoring and training other team members.
- Drive individual and team priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
- Participate in design of major software components, systems, and features to improve the reliability and availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Circuit's services.
- Improve our infrastructure capabilities by guiding the definition of SLAs for product specific services.
- Provide guidance to other team members on customer deployments, monitoring, observability, and capacity planning.
- Lead post-incident review and drive practices around blameless analysis, resolution, and continuous improvement work with cross-functional teams.
- Evangelize a culture of reliability and help mentor and train other team members on designing automation in order to meet SLAs.
- Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Work closely with Product and Software developers to ensure that security and operations are considered throughout the entire development cycle.
- Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science.
- 10+ years of software development experience with at least 5 years focused in a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role with cloud based services and solutions.
- Expert with Go, Rust, or Python programming languages.
- Extensive experience with Kubernetes and AWS.
- Experience with observability and automations for SaaS products.
- Expert in IaC solutions like Terraform.
- Strong experience with Linux, containers, Docker.
- Strong understanding of Networking concepts (like TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, etc).
- Strong knowledge of databases in the context of highly scalable web services, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Expertise in best practices for securing cloud based services.
- Experience designing, analyzing, automating and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience in networking, security, hardware or OS performance tuning.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab, Azure DevOps, CircleCI to create end-to-end pipelines for all staging environments (Dev, Test, UAT, Production) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
