Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a datacenter Simulation Expert, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.

Responsibilities
Developing and maintaining datacenter models and simulations to analyze and optimize datacenter operations; Applying advanced statistical techniques to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in datacenter performance.
Collaborating with operations, design, and automation teams to implement data-driven improvements in datacenter operations; Staying up-to-date with industry best practices and standards for datacenter modeling, simulation, and performance analysis.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and objectives for each simulation project.
Conduct rigorous testing, validation, and verification of simulation models to ensure accuracy, reliability, and adherence to industry standards.
Integrate real-world data sources into simulation models for enhanced accuracy and realism.
Analyze simulation output data to extract meaningful insights and recommendations for process optimization or decision-making; Perform scenario analysis and optimization studies using simulation models to identify areas for improvement, cost reduction, or performance enhancement.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of simulation models, methodologies, and results; Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation for internal stakeholders and clients.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field
OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) or consulting experience
OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
OR equivalent experience.
1+ years' experience calibrating simulation models with real data.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
OR equivalent experience.
Strong background in advanced modeling and statistics for large-scale projects and proficiency using linear models, Monte Carlo simulations, or discrete event simulations
Experience with datacenter design tools, automation technologies, and performance analysis tools.
Familiarity with hierarchical models, knowledge graphs, Digital Twins, or IoT implementations and prior experience with reliability engineering or advanced time series analytics
Data Science IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
