Department Summary:
The Emerging Systems Engineering Technologies Department at MITRE identifies, develops and applies new technologies to address challenging Systems Engineering problems.
We are seeking a Lead Model Based Systems Engineer with a track record of leading projects and a strong background in systems architecture modeling and analysis.
- Lead project teams to accomplish objectives and address sponsor problems.
- Model architectures of complex systems using standards-based languages such as SysML and UML.
- Evaluate alternative architectures using qualitative and quantitative techniques.
- Communicate cost benefit analysis, ROI, and analysis of alternatives to Sponsors.
- Support requirements management, interface management, and architecture change management processes.
- Translate analysis results into actionable recommendations for US Government agencies.
- Develop prototypes using Java, Python and related programming languages.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field, with 8+ years of applicable systems engineering experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a US clearance.
- Proficiency with SysML, UML, and other modeling tools, as well as Java, Python and related programming languages.
- Documented success using Cameo, MagicDraw, Doors and similar packages.
- Experience with systems architecture, design and development; multi-disciplinary modeling and simulation.
- Project-based teamwork experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in technical field of study.
- Clearance preferred.
- Leadership in SE innovation, research, and publishing.
- Technical management for SE projects requiring cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- Knowledge of Analysis of Alternatives, Verification and Validation, Design of Experiments, and data analytics.
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the context of engineering AI/ML systems or utilizing AI/ML to evolve the practice of Systems Engineering.
