Software development in the automotive industry comes with unique challenges. From deploying artifacts to cloud, mobile devices, and vehicles, to meeting vehicle security certifications and navigating different types of testing and simulation, it can be overwhelming for automotive software developers. That's why the Enterprise Technology Engineering Team (EnTec) builds solutions that enhance productivity, so developers can focus on their true passion – software development – without being bogged down by setup and customization tasks.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help deliver a positive Linux experience to our Software Developers. Your expertise in software development and Linux environments will help create modern development environments tailored specifically for our team. With a focus on providing access to workstations running preferred distributions, both physical and virtual, you will help make Linux a first-class experience within our corporation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in development of Linux desktop virtualization platform for our Software Developers, ensuring seamless integration with their workflow.
- Respond to alerts, investigate and resolve technical issues related to Linux environments, providing support to Software Developers to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
- Work with internal customers to collect feedback and rapidly iterate new features for end users.
- Architecture and development of infrastructure as code tooling.
- Develop deep analytics and monitoring of our infrastructure.
- Work with the security team and other team members on building a safe and modern infrastructure.
- Automate as much as possible to improve quality of service.
- You will report to the Engineering Manager, and be onsite 3 days per week per our hybrid work policy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with the above responsibilities in an English-language environment.
- 4+ years experience in development (e.g. Rust, Go, C++, C, Ruby, and Python).
- Hands-on experience working with at least one of the following: AWS, GCP.
- Linux power user or SysAdmin experience.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git).
NICE TO HAVES
- Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux administration.
- Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure with integrated testing.
- Experience with Cloudformation or Terraform.
- 2+ years experience in development in Rust.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies and containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure environments.
$140,000 - $230,000 a year
Your base salary is one part of your total compensation. We offer a base salary, short term and long term incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package. The California pay scale for this full-time position is $140,000 - $230,000. The total compensation offered to an employee will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and level.
