UI/UX Designer

Qualifications

• This position will favor someone with a strong Front-End/UX design skillset
• A minimum of 2-3 years demonstrated experience: UX designer, interactive designer, front-end designer, or equivalent
• Must be able to work with users to establish workflows
• Must be able to obtain a security clearance
• Have a diverse portfolio and the ability to work in a variety of styles and media
• Examples of highly detailed wireframes and designs
• Ability to use and participate in shaping a design system
• An excellent understanding of typography
• Proficient using various design tools (ex: Adobe Creative Suite, AdobeXD or Figma)
• Ability to communicate and work as part of a team, as well as independently
• Self-starter with excellent time-management skills and the ability to meet challenging deadlines
• Possess strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Deductive reasoning, listening, flexibility, and critical thinking skills and the ability to predict problems before they occur
• Ability to easily adapt and learn new things, whether it’s a new prototyping tool, design process, or business process
• Knowledge of CSS/SCSS or Javascript
• Knowledge of Google Design Sprints
• Knowledge of agile software development
• Fine arts background
• Ability to travel frequently to Northern Virginia or relocate

Responsibilities

• The UX/UI Designer helps shape and mold products at DI
• The creative professional will be developing designs and experiences for a web platform
• You will be using a design system to create flowcharts, wireframes, prototypes, and mockups
• You will be responsible for the design from start to finish
• Create wireframes, designs and prototypes for web, with possibility of mobile or desktop, to include spaces of all shapes and sizes
• Map out user flows and information architecture
• Utilize user research as an input to the design process
• Launch your ideas, which means working from kickoff through development and getting sign-off along the way (e.g. final wires and flows, specs, use cases, etc)
• Prototype your ideas – whether high or low fidelity using the Adobe Suite, AdobeXd or Figma
• Work closely with Project Managers and the Development team to craft and iterate on project needs and goals
• Define problems and opportunities
