Responsibilities
SUMMARY

DIGIT is seeking a Windows engineer to support the upgrade of Windows servers to Windows 2022 within the GSA environment. This includes analyzing the new features available with Windows 2022, what is required to integrate the new version into operations, and performing both upgrades and migrations to Windows 2022. The engineer will support operating system installation, configuration, patching, image creation, agent installation, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening in accordance with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) security requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position shall perform the following (to include but not limited to) activities:

  • Upgrading Windows servers to Windows 2022.
  • Providing analysis and solutions for upgrading to Windows 2022.
  • Developing new technologies to support and/or improve existing upgrade process by adding automation using existing and/or new technologies.
  • Collaborating with other members of the engineering team to design new features or improve existing ones.
  • Escalating issues to vendor and third-party entities, as necessary and directed by the Government.
  • Resolving/mitigating vulnerabilities related to the operating system as identified on security scan reports.
  • Installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting security agents deployed in the environment to ensure systems are secured and log collection is centralized and meets all security requirements.

Qualifications
CONTRACT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

This following are REQUIRED for this position:

  • Public Trust Clearance by start date.
  • ITILv4 Foundation Training and ITILv4 Foundation Certification, may be obtained within 120 days after hire.
  • Previous experience upgrading to Windows 2022 in an Enterprise environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years as Windows engineer.
  • Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments.
  • Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.
  • Perform systems management and integration functions.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a full and/or partial remote environment with limited supervision.
  • Possess the ability to communicate in both oral and written forms effectively.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including off shift hours and weekends during upgrades.

CONTRACT DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following are DESIRED for this position:

  • ITILv4 Foundation certified.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Experience with Scripting in Powershell and using BigFix to create BigFix Actions Scripts.
  • Experience with HCL BigFix, VMware, SolarWinds, Active Directory.
  • Proficiency in the Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Chat, Meet, Docs, Slides, Sheets), Slack, and ServiceNow.
  • Must be willing to work a variety of shifts, including holidays and weekends as scheduled.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The following are the education and experience required for this position:

  • 4 - 9 years of experience and bachelor's degree.
  • Experience as a remote worker demonstrating time management and self-discipline with cultural change management and Agile mindset.
