Head of Engineering

What you’ll be doing:

As the Head of Engineering at SnapMagic, you will help shape our technology strategy, driving both our AI vision and broader technical initiatives. You will lead the entire engineering department and play a pivotal role in aligning technological advancements with business goals, ensuring that SnapMagic stays at the forefront of innovation.

Responsibilities:

• Owning all the technology, including microservices, applications, APIs, databases, etc., and ensuring their optimal performance
• Initially a 50/50 split between coding and management, evolving as the team expands
• Executing a comprehensive technology roadmap that aligns with strategic objectives and growth
• Building, leading, and mentoring the engineering teams, with a primary focus on the AI division
• Overseeing the end-to-end delivery of features and technologies, maintaining high-quality standards from design to maintenance
• Collaborating with other teams within SnapMagic to ensure a unified approach to product development
• Acting as the primary point of contact for SnapMagic’s technological direction, internally and externally

• Demonstrated experience across various engineering disciplines with a creative approach
• Strong decision-making skills with a bias for action
• Exceptional ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity
• Passion for creating user-centric products and services
• Proficient in data analysis to measure KPIs, OKRs, and other software metrics
• Enjoys hands-on work and has experience in team recruitment and growth

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience
• Minimum 10 years of software development experience
• Hands-on experience with advanced AI models like GPT, LLAMA, BERT, or Transformer-based architecture
• Proficiency in Python
• Demonstrated success in driving impactful technological projects
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust at all levels
• Proven track record of scaling and managing engineering teams, including hiring and talent development
• Hybrid role requiring 3 days a week of in-person work
