This role will support the Senior Optical Engineer in developing and manufacturing retroreflective prismatic sheeting for the highway safety market.About Avery Dennison Reflective Solutions:Avery Dennison's Reflective Solutions Division develops and manufactures retroreflective prismatic sheeting for highway safety products such as highway sign sheeting and conspicuity tape.We have a Values based culture with a focus on team, safety, respect and caring for one another.Join our team and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that enhance safety on the road.Responsibilities include:Optical modeling and designCube corner prism modelingDesign of new prismatic sheeting typesSelection and maintenance of commercial instrumentation for measurement of topography, retroreflectivity, and colorDevelopment and maintenance of custom instrumentation (hardware and software)Data analysis from modeling and measurementQualificationsBachelor's degree in Optics, Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related fieldMaster's or PhD preferred4+ years of optics experience in industry and/or academic research settingSolid understanding of geometric optics, Fourier optics, and color theoryMath proficiency (3D geometry, vector analysis, calculus, Fourier analysis)Technical programming skills, particularly in object-oriented programming (MATLAB preferred)Experience with sequential and nonsequential ray tracing preferredExperience with interferometry, photometry, colorimetry, microscopy, refractometry, and profilometry preferredExperience with stage/goniometer control preferredData analysis skills using programming and spreadsheets (MATLAB and Excel preferred)Additional InformationAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or other protected status.
