Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
  2. Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.
  3. Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed.
  4. Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.
  5. Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.
  6. Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

Locations for all SDE roles: The majority of our SDE roles are based in the Greater Seattle/Bellevue, WA, and Arlington, VA area. Basic Qualifications

  1. Currently enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or majors relating to these fields.
  2. To qualify, applicants should have earned a Bachelor's or Master's degree between October 2023 to September 2024 and/or graduated within the last 12 months. Possible start dates for this role are between July 2024 to October 2024.
  3. Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Previous technical internship(s), if applicable.
  2. Experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
  3. Experience in optimization mathematics such as linear programming and nonlinear optimization.
  4. Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
  5. Adept at handling ambiguous or undefined problems as well as ability to think abstractly.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $88,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $200,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
