Sr. Manager, Engineering - ActiveBuilding Consumer Mobile Experience

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our growing and diverse team. You will help lead the mobile application engineering teams for one of our key products as we rearchitect and improve the product to deliver next generation capabilities on an improved and updated tech stack.

Primary Responsibilities

• Use your technical expertise and management experience to provide hands on engineering leadership and people management for a distributed engineering staff, with multiple scrum teams and team members in the Americas, Europe and India.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and software architects within a cross-functional agile software delivery methodology to empower your engineering team members to design and implement new user experiences and features for our customers.
• Manage project delivery and work with product stakeholders to define reasonable delivery timelines and appropriate strategies for delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Help improve and define engineering best practices on an ongoing basis for your product and potentially for the RealPage engineering organization as a whole.
• Provide input on technical feasibility of designs and present options for implementation approaches to guide planning of projects, identify risks and opportunities to mitigate or avoid risk.
• Serve as a mentor for your engineering team members and help them grow professionally and technically as engineering practitioners. Actively participate in code reviews, design reviews, architectural reviews for engineering work, and individual performance reviews for your direct reports.
• Guide your teams in working with teams on other RealPage products to build integrated customer experiences, share data and improve interoperability between RealPage products.
• Help define application performance monitoring and metrics, help the team with monitoring on an ongoing basis, and incident response when necessary.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• 7+ years of experience in software development including design, implementation and maintenance of complex web and/or mobile applications.
• 5+ years of experience as a hands on technical leader of engineering teams.
• 3+ years of people management experience in hiring, mentoring and supporting engineering staff.
• 5+ years of experience in native mobile app development (iOS and Android), including a strong understanding of releasing mobile apps to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
• 3+ years of experience with React Native & Typescript.
• Must have strong fundamentals in React, state management, hooks, life-cycle management, props, and other related React design patterns.
• Must have a good understanding of Typescript and structural type systems.
• 3+ years of experience with automated unit testing and/or end to end testing (ex. Jest or similar unit testing frameworks, Cypress or Playwright for e2e testing, or something similar).
• Experience working with React.js or similar frontend javascript frameworks.
• Strong understanding of industry best practices for software engineering.
• Strong understanding of mobile UI/UX best practices and an ability to discuss the best approach to UX problems.
• Strong understanding of responsive design patterns for the web.
• Strong proficiency in Javascript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience with projects in public cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure.
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in both written and spoken English.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Experience working on projects rearchitecting/transitioning applications from on-prem datacenters to public cloud.
• A background in building/deploying/releasing mobile applications end-to-end on the iOS or Android platforms.
• Experience building or consuming GraphQL APIs for enterprise software applications.
• OAuth/Open ID Connect Experience.
• Experience working with and/or building design systems & UI component libraries.
• Experience working with an all-remote global team, and effectively collaborating asynchronously.
