Staff Engineer Packaging Engineering

Job Description

Our Package Design Engineering team is seeking a talented Staff Engineer with expertise in both thermal management and machine learning, based at our Milpitas, CA, USA site. In this role, you will be pivotal in driving innovation in thermal design for our high-performance flash products, as well as developing and maintaining advanced simulation tools, machine learning software, and automation infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Innovate thermal management solutions for high-performance flash products
• Enhance and maintain our modeling and simulation infrastructure to improve efficiency and accuracy across the design and manufacturing processes.
• Leverage machine learning and data analytics with traditional FEA / CFD simulation methods to optimize the design and process recipes
• This position may interface with package & product design, electrical, thermal and physical characterization, reliability testing, failure analysis, assembly R&D and other process teams.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED:

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering plus >2 years of relevant industrial experience.
• Solid knowledge through academic coursework or research experience required in thermal engineering.
• Experience/coursework/research in machine learning, data science, and deep learning
• Working knowledge in designing and conducting thermal testing and/or using a commercial CFD/FEA package.
• Proficient in one or more programming languages such as Python, Matlab

SKILLS:

• Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving ability
• Good communication, relationship skills and a team player

PREFERRED:

• Experience with machine learning framework, such as Scikit-learn, Scipy, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Yolo
• Knowledge in structural, thermal or mechanical in package engineering
• Interested in semiconductor industry.

• An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and geographic location.
• The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
