The pay for this position ranges from $125000 - $137000.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated, forward-thinking electrical engineer to join the Advanced Technology group where you will be responsible for designing, evaluating and supporting advanced fuel cell-based systems for power generation, carbon capture, hydrogen production and energy storage. This position requires flexibility to work on multiple projects, covering a range of systems and technologies, in various stages of the design or validation process.
Responsibilities:

  • Leads design of engineering projects related to product improvement/development
  • Designs, evaluates and supports equipment for power generation and conversion including inverters/rectifiers.
  • Electrical Systems Design: Single Line & Three Line Drawings, Wiring & Interconnect Drawings, Electrical Layouts & Details, Power Distribution Drawings, Panel Layout & Design Drawings, Arc Flash Safety and Calculations
  • Prepare electrical engineering designs for fabrication including AC distribution, DC distribution, and small system controller power systems.
  • National Electrical Code and Safety Standards, UL 1741, IEEE 1547, and NFPA 70 & 79
  • Prepares electrical engineering calculations in support of electrical system designs including, electrical equipment sizing, feeder sizing and equipment selection
  • Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring those other disciplines' inputs are incorporated
  • Prepares documentation for engineering changes and product design verifications.
  • Evaluates components and processes used in distributed generation systems.
  • Writes procedures, specifications, and preventative maintenance plans.
  • Working closely with key electrical equipment suppliers to select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications.
  • Perform fault current analysis and arc flash hazard of system designs, including inrush mitigation, circuit protection scenarios (fuse and breaker selection, coordination), and supplemental grid solutions.
  • Configures / programs electrical devices such as variable frequency drives.
  • Provides engineering support to service personnel.
  • Ensure our designs meet applicable codes, current regulations and standards
  • Other projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of applicable commercial work experience with power systems focus on design, analysis, and implementation, clean energy, commercial electrical, facility support; or related work in a formal engineering environment. Direct FCE work experience will be considered.
Candidate must have demonstrable knowledge in:
  • Expertise in power system analysis, design, and operation
  • Proficiency in: Power flow and fault studies, Arc flash and short circuit analysis, Harmonics and transient studies, Relay coordination and protection systems, Electrical system modeling and simulation (e.g., ETAP, SKM, PSCAD), Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, NERC, etc.)
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and standards (e.g., NEC, NESC, OSHA)
  • Familiarity with industry trends, technologies, and best practices
  • AC/DC Power Distribution and Conversion
  • Renewable Energy or Utility Equipment
  • Cable, Breaker, Component sizing, Power Metering, VFD Drives, UPS systems
  • LV/MV Electrical Systems Design
  • Power Metering and Controls
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, or schematics, or the ability to learn.
  • Familiarity with design software tools such as SKM or similar, is preferred.
  • Familiar with Instrument Layout & Details, Logic Diagrams, Instrument Loop Diagrams
  • National Electrical Code and Safety Standards including NFPA, UL and IEC/EN
  • Engineering Documentation Processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible and adaptable to rapidly shift gears into multi-disciplinary roles based on current project requirements.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to work physically in the office environment, lab environment and in the field, wearing required personal protective equipment as designated.
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs., utilizing both hands simultaneously, utilizing hand tools, test equipment.
  • Walking/standing/working in an office, lab, fabrication area, or designated construction site environment.
  • Other physical requirements (pushing, pulling, and bending) may be required to perform inspections, make connections, take photographs, or access installed equipment.
  • Ability to remain on feet and move from area to area for a period of up to eight (8) hours with standard breaks.
  • Travel: 15% domestic or international
  • Have or be able to obtain a Passport
