We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer – Long-term Planning with previous planning experience (preferably in Sub Level Caving or Block Caving) to join our Block Cave (BC) Planning team. The BC Planning team within the Mine Technical & Technology team is responsible for the 5-year plan and life of mine plans with a focus on the block cave transition.

Roster: 5:2, Monday to Friday 38h week.

In This Role You Will:

  1. Undertake trade-offs to understand optionality and narrow a broad work package (multiple options, constraints, stakeholders, and priorities).
  2. Undertake detailed project work to move work programs into the next phase of detail.
  3. Be a key interface with internal teams; ore body knowledge, vent, services, technology, operational readiness – and support the implementation of direction and projects associated with these areas into the long-term plan.
  4. Take design and schedule outputs and develop phased integrated mine plans, to facilitate handover to the medium-term planning team for executional planning (plan of intent documentation).
  5. Engaging and aligning with stakeholders (internal & external to Mine Technical & Technology), ensuring inputs are captured and integrated in line with the minewide priorities, and outputs are fit-for-purpose and meet requirements.
  6. Be an active member of the caving community, including contributions to benchmarking and industry engagements to ensure the latest industry learnings are captured and incorporated where relevant.

About You:

  1. Previous underground mining experience with exposure to Sub Level Cave or Block Cave mining operations (preferable).
  2. Proficiency in Deswik Suite (Cad, IS, Sched).
  3. Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of interactions between mining and other site functions such as projects, construction, maintenance, and processing.
  5. Sound problem-solving skills and can-do attitude.
  6. Strong communicator, collaborator, and proactive engager.
  7. Exposure to strategic and long-term planning work requirements.
