AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer in the Greater Pennsylvania area to join AECOM Transportation Department in Mechanicsburg, PA .

As an Entry-Level Structural Engineer, you will work with multi-discipline project teams in developing a range of engineering solutions from initial concepts to detailed design development and through construction. This is a diverse role that will involve your contributions and insight into the effective delivery of the department’s current and future portfolio of projects.

This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Builds analytic and design skills.
  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Academic track with a structural engineering concentration is highly desirable.
  • 1-2 cycles of relevant internship experience in the execution of structural design projects is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Some production software experience including but not limited to: MicroStation, AutoCAD, MS Office, and Bluebeam is highly desirable.
  • Some structural analysis software experience including but not limited to: STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, CSI Bridge, and LUSAS are a plus.
  • Basic familiarity and working knowledge of relevant building codes and standards including AASHTO, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318, ACI 530, NDS, etc.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Master of Science in Structural Engineering or related field is a plus.
  • A valid U.S. Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one before employment, is preferred for visiting project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices, particularly when public transportation is not available.

  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in M echanicsburg, PA. The selected candidate must be available to work in M echanicsburg, PA on a scheduled basis.
