The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, hardware integration, and electronic modules, pedestal and power and cooling systems. The department is comprised of individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Principal Electronics Packaging Mechanical Engineer. This person will be responsible to lead the mechanical team in the development, design, and build of electronic modules and assemblies. Key requirements for this position include proven problem solving skills and experience in hardware design and integration, engineering analysis, and requirements alignment. Individuals will interface primarily with other mechanical and electrical engineers, but will often be required to collaborate with operations, supply chain, systems, test engineering, program offices and customers.

This role will be based in Marlborough, MA and is an onsite role.

Responsibilities to Anticipate :

  1. Strong mechanical hardware design experience and knowledge with ruggedized electronics packaging.
  2. Developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the entire product life cycle including proposal, design, manufacture, integration and test of electronics and module packaging solutions for multiple military programs.
  3. Supervising the definitions of mechanical outline and construction details, connector selection and specification, mechanical and assembly drawings, oversee electrical layout and be responsible for final technical data package.
  4. Meeting cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for the finished product.
  5. Providing technical conscience, ensuring the product and process meet appropriate standards and requirements.
  6. Working with minimal direction or supervision, while exercising considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of the assignment.
  7. Frequent interaction with senior personnel, including external customers, on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

A PhD can account for 5 years of experience as required for this position.

Basic Qualifications :

  1. Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  2. A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in mechanical design.
  3. Experience with electronic packaging and hardware design packaging for military or mechanical or commercial applications.
  4. Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances).
  5. The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value :

  1. Experience with ANSI drawing standards and/or first order or structural analysis techniques.
  2. Experience with CREO(Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software.
  3. Cognizant of machine suppliers’ capabilities or have direct experience in a manufacturing and assembly support role for producibility.
  4. Familiarity with the design and manufacturing processes of CCAs, metal housings, sheet metal.
  5. Strong technical background with high technical aptitude.
  6. Strong leadership skills and project management.
  7. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  8. Very strong verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills when working with team members and customers.
  9. Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $132,000.00 - $156,000.00 per year
