Job Description

The role of Associate Technical Designer will be responsible for understanding and communicating fit/construction improvements and will work closely with technical design partners, design and product development to collectively make great quality active apparel. With supervision, the candidate will develop into owning a subcategory regarding all specs, grades, fit sessions and will communicate directly with suppliers to ensure proper understanding of corrections needed for the next sample stage. There is opportunity for an additional breadth of responsibilities in this role as we continue to grow as a brand.

Qualifications

What you'll get to do:

  • Own creation and all aspects of fit schedule (partner with Sr. Technical Designer’s and Cross functional team to align fit schedule time, attendance and agenda)
  • Assist with fit sample tracking and manage on-time delivery from vendors
  • Creation of new style specifications (from block or reference style)
  • Maintain specs and grades from initial set up through production (proto’s, PPs, Size Sets, TOPs) in Excel
  • Prepare for fit sessions (print out pre-fit paperwork and pull previous fit samples 24 hours before fitting, measure and pre-fit garments to identify fit issues proactively)
  • With supervision from the Sr. Technical Designer’s, this role will develop into being responsible for owning a sub-category or group of styles
  • Communicate fit and construction related comments and production timelines to the vendor and internal teams within development in a professional manner.
  • Utilize fit blocks and construction standards to ensure fit consistency and quality.
  • Experience with reading and correcting patterns either through software or via other methods (taking photos, drawing on patterns, etc.)
  • Work to improve fit and quality through review of customer comments, sales feedback, and understanding of competition.
  • Responsible for managing and hitting all deadlines along with communicating any challenges.
  • Comfortable with working on a variety of categories (knit, woven, performance, or lifestyle)
  • Is a team player, able to work closely with other team members to help manage overall workload with regards to construction, fit, approvals, comments, timelines, etc.
  • Responsible for providing all assigned product related fit details for catalog / website and maintaining full understanding of assigned styles and historical issues.

Who you are:

  • Degree in tech design, patternmaking, or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a technical design role.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with cross functional teams (design, development, merch and production).
  • Must have good communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • General understanding and knowledge of grading, support and participate in grading projects.
  • General understanding of fabrications and how they react with silhouettes.
  • Must be able to work proficiently in Outlook, Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer pattern making is a plus (example: Gerber, 3D V-Stitcher / Browzswear).
  • Knowledge of PLM is a plus.

The salary range for this role is $31 per hour - $32 per hour.
