This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for an Associate Civil/Geotechnical Engineer with mining industry experience for our Creve Coeur, Missouri office. Be involved in projects with our US Mine Waste Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. In this role you will have the opportunity to work as a part of a regional team on challenging mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical projects. #GlobalMiningYour ImpactWorking within our Mine Waste team on civil and geotechnical engineering projects for the mining industry performing engineering tasks such as:Geotechnical field investigationSite and material characterizationDesign of facilities including grading, storage capacity, and construction quantity evaluationsSlope stability, seepage, consolidation, liner system, and deformation analyses to support facility designsSurface water management analysis and facility designsPreparing portions of technical reports that document field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and facility designsAssisting with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, project schedules, and cost estimatesPerforming domestic and international field assignments, such as geotechnical investigations and construction monitoringComply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, engineering studies and surveys, and constructionComplete training on assigned tasksExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and proceduresPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needsWho You AreRequired QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or closely related discipline1 to 3 years of relevant post education experienceSuccessful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or the ability to complete the exam within 6 months of start dateStrong analytical skills including the ability to complete engineering calculations and analysesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work both independently and on teamsComfortable working in remote settingsAn active focus on health and safety for themselves and othersAbility and willingness to travel both domestically and internationallyBasic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and toolsFamiliarity with discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD and Civil 3D)Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policiesAbility to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweekOccasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirementsPreferred Qualifications:A master's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering, or an equivalent field of studyEngineer in Training CertificationPrior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline#LI-MC2About WSPWSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
