Description

Product Engineer

Steelcase is hiring a Product Engineer to create, develop, and implement new products.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Partner with various stakeholders and teams to create new products for our task seating studio.
  • Provide support through the creation of engineering drawings, tolerance analysis, free body diagrams, participate in material selection, and analyze various product components.
  • Prototyping and analysis.
  • Engaging with different functions - connecting with people
  • Experience working with mechanisms and associated kinematics
  • Design and revise plastic, aluminum, die casting, sheet metal, upholstery CAD files using Creo software.

Your Future Team:

In this position you will work in our Learning and Innovation Center in Grand Rapids, MI with a small team of talented engineers and collaborate cross-functionally with both internal and external business stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in the engineering approval of parts for production (ISIR/PPAPs)
  • Experience performing and understanding DFMEA/PFMEAs
  • Experience creating and defining performance requirements on engineering drawings
  • Experience using Creo CAD software or other equivalent platforms such as SolidWorks
  • Experience using a PLM system such as PTC Windchill
  • A basic understanding of handling, packaging, distribution, and sustainability strategies as they relate to product design/material usage decisions
  • Strong understanding of tolerance analysis

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to use various methods and techniques in solving technical problems
  • Ability to apply mechanical engineering principles and knowledge of material science, manufacturing processes, and tools in product engineering
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
