Job Description

The Transducer Engineer is responsible for the design and development of professional loudspeaker transducers from concept to production. You will determine the technical feasibility of future products and have project management responsibility for assigned programs.

  • Design and develop transducers for use in Electro-Voice (EV) loudspeaker products.

  • Research new technologies and materials for use in: direct radiating transducers and compression drivers.

  • Model and simulate suspension systems, magnetics, phase plugs, driver chassis and other mechanical components using Solidworks, MATLAB, COMSOL and other simulation software.

  • Design for manufacture optimization with factories and vendors.

  • Assemble prototype transducers and perform hands on design iteration.

  • Development of test and design verification for functional and reliability testing.

  • Evaluate performance and reliability, failure modes and root cause failure analysis.

  • Manage documentation including 3D files and bills of materials.

  • Verify products for conformance to design specifications, operational and safety standards.

  • Work in team environment with Project Mangers to maintain schedules for assigned tasks, and product costs.

  • Work with manufacturing to improve quality and costs and support sample builds.

  • Deliver designed and optimized product solutions following projects from conception to mass production.

  • Support projects during full life cycle, work with quality and service departments to solve ongoing quality issues should they arise.

Qualifications

Required:

  • BS or MS in Engineering (EE, ME, or Acoustical) or Physics.

  • 3-5 years of engineering experience (Loudspeaker industry preferred) or equivalent blend of education and experience.

  • Experience with 3D CAD (preferred program is Solidworks).

  • Ability to innovate as part of an industry leading R&D team.

  • Passion for music and product development of the highest standard.

  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred:

  • FEA experience (magnetics, mechanical, thermal, multi-physics), COMSOL is preferred.

  • Experience building transducer prototypes.

  • Experience testing transducers; including electrical, acoustical, abuse, and power handling tests.

  • General knowledge of Engineering Drawings, BOM’s, DFMEA’s and other general manufacturing processes and documentation.

  • Strong yield optimization skills (experience with DFM, DOE, SPC, and 6 Sigma helpful).

  • Document control and product data management (PDM) experience, SAP preferred

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
