We are hiring a Lead Mechanical Engineer within the Westinghouse Architectual Engineering group associated with the Norwell, MA office, although the role can be performed remotely.
This individual will be responsible for the Standard Design Process Engineering changes that are in process and be able to attend daily meetings and report progress and any issues identified in the EC process. The candidate would also familiarize themselves with other EC processes that do not comply with the standard design process. The candidate would also have a basic understanding of plant uprates and be able to attend daily meetings and report progress of ongoing uprate activities and explain ongoing issues.
This individual will be reviewing, and at times preparing, estimates and proposals for the Mechanical discipline to prepare Engineering Change Packages and associated calculations, drawings and specifications.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be reviewing project schedules and reporting progress in terms of the scheduled activities internally to project management and at times to the client. The candidate would be communicating with other disciplines such as piping, I&C, electrical, civil structural to discuss interface issues.
Who You Are:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical discipline required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- 5 years of experience required, 15 years of demonstrated mechanical engineering experience in the commercial nuclear industry with a minimum of 10 years in the nuclear balance of plant (BOP) engineering and design is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated lead responsibility on nuclear BOP engineering preferred.
- Familiarity with Engineering change package (ECP) and actual preparation experience preferred.
- Familiarity with the IP-ENG-001 process preferred. Training or qualifications in the process is a plus.
- Professional Engineer License or ability to obtain is desirable.
- Communication skills that support working with customers, attending project meetings, writing proposals as well as internal conversations with other project members.
- Experience with preparing project estimates, review and approval of piping engineering estimates.
- Experience with assigning, directing, and reviewing project activities.
- Knowledge of the nuclear QA and corrective action program processes
