STS Technical Services is seeking an experienced Senior Materials and Processes (M&P) Engineer with a focus on composite and bonded airframes. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in material qualification, repair techniques, non-destructive testing (NDT), project management, and Material Review Board (MRB) actions, contributing to the design and support of advanced aircraft structures.
Key Responsibilities- Create, maintain, and apply M&P specifications.
- Review and approve engineering drawings for material and process requirements.
- Develop processes and quality controls for composite fabrication and bonding.
- Direct material qualification/equivalency test programs and analyze data.
- Support MRB actions for M&P discrepancies and assist in production.
- Work with suppliers, Procurement, and Service Centers.
- Travel as necessary for M&P issues.
- BS or MS in Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Engineering.
- 8+ years of relevant experience, with at least 5+ years in M&P Engineering.
- Experience with FAA Certification and MRB authority is a strong advantage.
- Strong technical writing skills for test plans and reports.
- Proficient in MS Office, CMH-STATS, CATIA V5, TeamCenter, and SAP.
- Understanding of FAA regulations for composites during type certification.
- Ability to mentor and lead less experienced engineers and technicians.
- Ability to work in environments with exposure to equipment noise, dust, or odors.
- Perform duties such as standing, sitting, squatting, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Follow FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, and safety regulations while maintaining a professional working environment.
