SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

The Role:

The Sr. Project Manager position will be responsible for developing, planning and executing on-site capital projects with the knowledge and ability to successfully guide them through a stage-gate process from inception to completion. The Sr. Project Manager will be responsible for maintaining the scope, budget and schedule during the entirety of the project. The Sr. Project Manager shall have the technical knowledge to work with outside consulting engineering firms to provide accurate and constructable designs which meet corporate procedures and specifications. The Sr. Project Manager will be assigned to lead projects and be the primary point of contact for external engineering firms and construction contractors. This position will provide technically based project management support for large capital projects which include production, maintenance, growth, regulatory, and environmental issues. The plant is expanding in the next several years and we need your help.

What You'll Do:

  • Review and evaluate engineering proposals, drawings, specifications, and contractor bid packages.
  • Oversee project review meetings with both internal and external engineering and construction teams.
  • Provide timely feedback to external sources for all requested project information including equipment information, drawings, site standards, templates, photographs, dimensions, etc.
  • According to internal corporate guidelines, initiate and complete capital project tasks from inception to implementation. Adhere to company guidelines for Capital Project documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of all project correspondence. Consistently keep stakeholders advised of project progress via oral and written reports.
  • Deliver all assigned capital projects on time and on budget. Installed equipment needs to perform as intended to meet desired production rates.
  • Monitor construction activities and minimize change orders.
  • Provide and compile project Operation and Maintenance (O&M) documentation.
  • Provide a high level of technical competence and trust.
  • Assist with the efforts to increase plant reliability, profitability, and modernization.
  • Conduct and promote actions which are both safe and environmentally sound.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

What You'll Need:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required. Chemical or Mechanical Preferred.
  • PMP and/or PE certifications are desirable but not required.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of industrial project engineering and project management related experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards including ASME, API, OSHA, EPA, and PSM.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of economic principles, project management and customer (stakeholder) service.
  • Must be proficient in software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project and Capital Planning/Forecasting software along with having general AutoCAD skills. Also, possess the ability to work 50% in the office and 50% in the plant.

Business Travel:

  • If based in Keokuk, assignments would be on-site 5 days.
  • If based in Gurnee, project assignments would require up to 30% travel to the Keokuk, IA site for a few days at a time. Some work and coordination can be done using Microsoft Teams. Most of project travel will occur at the beginning of the project and then during the start-up/commissioning stage of the project.
  • During system start-up and commissioning extended work hours may be expected.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; work in hot, cold and loud environments.
