Supporting the world’s bravest.Job SummaryResponsible for facilitating cross-functional teams engaged in location-specific continuous improvement activities using enterprisewide standard methods for value creation and waste elimination in accordance with industry standard strategic deployments of Lean and Six Sigma. Ability to apply lean and problem-solving methodologies within cross-functional teams independently.Job ResponsibilitiesResponsible for manufacturing process development, implementation, and continuous improvement to enhance Quality/Yield, reduce Cost, and improve Productivity/Schedule.Initiate and lead lean manufacturing process improvement projectsInvolved in implementing lean manufacturing tools on the production floor.Perform time studies, calculate tact time vs cycle time, and develop basic manufacturing flow and capacity plansSpecify and implement equipment and processes including efficient layout and optimization of material and information flowsProvide production support to assemblers and leads. Document manufacturing processes and assembly work instructions in conjunction the manufacturing engineering teamDesign shop/visual aid tooling to assist productionCoordinate layout and work station move activities.Prepares time estimates for proposed projects and evaluates time factorsSupport, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organizationOther duties as assignedJob Responsibilities Part IIExperience with assembly methods and processesExperience with Drawings and BOMs; Assembly Instructions; Engineering Change systems; Quality systems for non-conforming parts and corrective actionExperience with Lean/Six Sigma Manufacturing methodologies for waste reduction, 5S, Standard Work, TAKT, Pull System, single piece flow, Value Stream Mapping, cell design, and manufacturing flowDemonstrate technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice.The ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadershipAbility to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environmentGreen belt certification in six sigma methodologies strongly encouragedExperience in fast paced, high volume environments including multi-site operating experience strongly preferredKnowledge of engineering processes including engineering change control, engineering labor standards and methodologies, six sigma and best practicesSkills in the use of AutoCAD, Arena, Promodel, Flexsim, or other simulationQualificationsBachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering field (Industrial Engineering Preferred)0-2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education/training and experienceStrong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills especially regarding manufacturing processes, engineering issues and proposed changes and dispositionsTaking care of our people is a top priority at Leonardo DRS.
