Job Summary: The role of a CNC Machinist I is to produce quality machined parts by accurately and efficiently operating CNC machines. This position will be responsible for seeing machining and programming activities from beginning to end to achieve compliance with quality standards and customer requirements. This position will have a basic understanding of how the prototype process applies to CNC machining.

Job Summary: The role of a CNC Machinist I is to produce quality machined parts by accurately and efficiently operating CNC machines. This position will be responsible for seeing machining and programming activities from beginning to end to achieve compliance with quality standards and customer requirements. This position will have a basic understanding of how the prototype process applies to CNC machining.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Read and interpret prints
- Select and prepare raw materials for machining
- Understand how to apply basic lathe and mill concepts to machine parts more efficiently
- Perform dimensional and visual inspection of parts per specifications using basic measuring equipment
- Collaborate with supervisor, project managers, and other shop personnel to clarify project requirements and resolve issues
- Understand intended purpose of the tumblers and operate when necessary
- Assist with cleaning and preventative maintenance of machines, tools, and workstations
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Other duties as assigned
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Basic knowledge of print reading
- Basic understanding of shop mechanics, mathematics, and measurement
- Basic knowledge of material properties
- Proficient knowledge of commonly used hand and power tools
- Basic computer literacy

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- 2-year Machining Degree preferred, or 3+ years of equivalent machining experience in a related industry
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment, hand/power tools, etc. and handle and feel parts of various size
- Ability to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout a shift
- Ability to push, pull or lift 50 lbs. moderately throughout a workday, occasionally 50+lbs with a team lift
- Ability to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focus
- Fast-paced environment
- Noise conditions can be moderate to extreme. Hearing protection will be provided if needed and/or by request
- Exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles
- Moving mechanical parts and vibrations
- Exposure to hot metal and machining components
- Exposure to various types of coolants and oils
- 1st Shift Work Schedule: 5 - 8-hour shifts
