Role description:
Arcadis is searching for a Staff Water Engineer to support and grow our Water team in Syracuse, NY. This candidate will use their expertise and technical knowledge to deliver design work for water/wastewater clients in New York and across North America.
Role accountabilities:

  • Evaluate, plan, design and support management of projects for water / wastewater treatment and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities).
  • Exercise judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
  • Complete technical and report writing with guidance from more senior team members.
  • Perform fieldwork activities such as site visits, construction inspection, sampling, water quality analyses, asset inventory, flow monitoring set-up and monitoring, technology evaluations, and plant operations information, process troubleshooting and optimization
  • Support professional engineering services during construction: construction observation, review of shop drawings, responses to request for information (RFIs) and permit closeouts.
  • Manage tasks as a project resource, completing allocated activities to meet budget, timeframe and quality objectives and meeting or exceeding client expectations.
  • Carry out investigations and analyses to support the development of technical solutions.
  • Prepare documentation and reports ensuring accuracy and compliance with Arcadis requirements and relevant national standards and codes of practice
  • Liaise with Project Managers/Team Leaders and clients to ensure effective communication on project matters.
  • Contribute to the resolution of technical issues on projects and provide technical guidance to other team members.
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design or solution.
  • Review completed engineering work to ensure it meets specified standards.
  • Further develop understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, of the client's business and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to develop personal credibility in the industry
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering,
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to commute to project sites.
  • Minimum 3 years' of experience in engineering AND EIT Certification
Skills and Abilities:
  • Detail oriented with knowledge of relevant national standards and codes of practice,
  • Ability to provide technical guidance.
  • Advanced research, data gathering, technical writing and analysis skills,
  • Developing skills including technical, project management, relationship management, sector expertise and commercial awareness,
  • Work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, time management and communication skills
Preferred Skills:
  • New York PE License

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $106,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
