As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be pivotal in designing, building, and optimizing our data infrastructure. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data flow and integration across various MarTech and AdTech platforms powering Polaris, Wpromote's proprietary tech platform. The anticipated annual salary for this role will range from $95,000 - $125,000, based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, years and depth of experience, education and certifications, competitive benchmarks, scope of responsibility, market dynamics, geographic location, and the respective state's salary threshold for exempt employees.
This position may be performed remotely in most states within the US, with some exclusions. While this role offers the flexibility to work remotely, we have office hubs in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where you can join in on learning and development opportunities, fun events, take advantage of a space to work, and collaborate in person!
You Will Be:
- Developing data pipelines leveraging a variety of technologies including dbt and BigQuery
- Gathering requirements from non-technical stakeholders and building effective solutions
- Identifying areas of innovation that align with existing company and team objectives
- Managing multiple pipelines across Wpromote's client portfolio
You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases
- Strong knowledge of database and data warehousing design and management
- Strong experience with DBT (data build tool) and test-driven development practices
- Proficiency with at least 1 cloud database (e.g. BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving skills, project management habits, and attention to detail
- Advanced level Excel and Google Sheets experience
- Familiarity with data orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, Dagster, AWS Glue, Azure data factory, etc.)
- Strong business and marketing acumen including common marketing goals, KPIs, and tactics
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to present effectively and to explain algorithms and insights to major non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have:
- Experience leading and managing other Data Engineers
- Intermediate to advanced programming skills in Python
- Experience creating API calls to gather and store large datasets (batch or streaming)
- Familiarity with CRM data
- Familiarity with the command line interface
- Experience with data visualization and storytelling practices
- Ability to generate insights from data in the form of refined tabular and graphical reports, metrics, and ad-hoc analysis
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. GitHub, Bitbucket, GitLab)
- Experience within an Advertising Agency or similar client environment
- Working experience with digital media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Google Ads, The Trade Desk, etc.)
- Experience and/or certification in web analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, etc.)
