Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division (MSD #BroadcomSoftware) is looking for an excellent software engineer with a passion for building high quality applications using agile practices to join our development team working on the solutions in the area of Event Management and Automation.

Mainframe systems are at the heart of the digital economy, with 80% of the world’s structured corporate data residing or originating on mainframes, and 55% of all enterprise applications hitting the mainframe to complete transactions. Our industry-leading products are critical to many Fortune 1000 companies.

We are looking for a team member to contribute to the workload automation solution area, with strengths in Mainframe or Distributed skills, or a combination of both. The products in the solution area include backend assembler language components running on the mainframe, with Java and C applications that interact with the backend and provide information to feed frontend components with Open Telemetry events. Applied experience with CI/CD practices and tools for orchestration, deployment and testing is a plus.

This position is responsible for creating, testing, ensuring the quality of and maintaining a product or product line. The R&D Software Engineer 4 will perform complex code modification, testing, and debugging tasks, as well as provide high level analysis related to software design and development. The person in this role is expected to act as a technical lead within a small team, advising, mentoring and coaching more junior developers and partnering with stakeholders such as Product Owners, Solution Architects etc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively within an Agile Team to write high quality, testable code that meets the Definition of Done.

  • Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers.
  • Create automated unit, system, and acceptance tests.

  • Responsible for assigned integration, testing, and deployment tasks.
  • Actively foster continuous team improvement in self and team.
  • Contribute to team retrospectives; help to identify and resolve team impediments.
  • Take ownership of problems and continuously strive to become a better problem solver.
  • Write and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.
  • Actively communicate and collaborate within the team and across functional boundaries.
  • Improve the overall skill level of the team by mentoring / teaching / coaching.

Preferred Education

Bachelor's degree or global equivalent in a related field.

Work Experience

Typically, 8 or more years of experience in software development or a related field.

  • Familiar with QA and DevOps concepts and practices such as test automation, CI/CD etc.
  • Experience in the following areas as a plus:
    • Experience in C, Javascript, Typescript, Spring Boot, HTML, CSS, REST, Web Services, WebSockets, API development
    • Angular, Node.js, Express.js
    • Familiarity with web service security
    • RHEL, CentOS
    • Jenkins, Gradle, npm, Artifactory, Cypress

Compensation And Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $107,000 - $171,000. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
