Job Description:
The Pursuits and Programs - DoD team within the Tactical Communications Sector at L3Harris is looking for a highly motiviated and experienced engineer to lead major US DoD programs. The engineering leadership duties required of the successful candidate includes cross functional leadership and reporting at the functional and senior leadership level. This candidate will lead programs that are major revenue drivers for the TCOM business.
Essential Functions:
- Broad in nature and may encompass multiple phases of a program lifecycle to include Pursuit, Development, Production, Testing or Post-Delivery Support
- Accountable to both Program Manager and Engineering Leadership Team: to serve as the program focal point for all engineering development, deliverable definition, resource allocation, task assignment and completion, problem solving and decision making necessary to accomplish program goals
- Responsible for the day-to-day tactical duties for assigned programs. Coordinates all engineering aspects of the program to meet scope, schedule and design to cost goals within the program guidelines set by Program Manager and the engineering team
- Uses project management practices for resource planning, personnel oversight, and cost/schedule tracking
- Develops, manages, and maintains all aspects of program-level risks, including mitigation strategy and cost implications
- Demonstrates operational discipline, ownership and projects leadership
- Maintains scope control through disciplined change management
- Monitors the program from initiation through completion and customer acceptance
- Travel – up to 25% domestic travel is possible
Qualifications:
- Requires mastery level knowledge within a specific technical area or multiple job areas. Viewed as an expert and/or resource within the field by peers in and outside the organization. Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- Active US DoD Secret Clearance; or, ability to obtain a US DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
- MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- Ability to clearly articulate direction, status, issues, risks, and opportunities, to team, peers, leadership and the program team.
- Ability to partner with stake holders and team leaders to identify needs and develop marketable Tactical Communication System solutions which provide value to the customer.
- Proven and effective communications skills, interpersonal skills, customer mission focus and results oriented. Lead from the front
- Familiarity with L3Harris tactical radio products
- Successful candidate will need a strong knowledge and understanding of DoD customer base and their communications needs
- Provide mentorship to junior project engineers
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $128,000 - $238,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
