Job Description SummaryIn this role, the Senior Engineer will develop design specifications, create and mature design concepts, provide procurement support, and generate drawings and design documentation. This position requires interface with Business Project Managers and Technical Project Engineers, Sourcing and equipment manufacturers, and interfacing engineering teams with both our business and its partners.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks. Takes personal responsibility, understanding impact of design and associated risk. Considers customer needs and maintains open communication with interfacing engineers and project stakeholders.In this role, the Engineer will develop design specifications, create and mature design concepts, provide procurement support, and generate other drawings and design documentation as required. The Engineer will operate in a matrixed engineering team to ensure high quality deliverables in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures and regulatory agency guidelines.Execute the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assignments related to reactor internal components that meet business standards and program / product requirementsPerformance of fundamental engineering hand calculations and modelingDeveloping design of mechanical components and equipmentMaintaining focus to assessing causality and risk.Preparing and presenting technical data to internal customersLead/facilitate discussion and information exchange to promote open dialogue including working effectively in a matrixed team environmentEnsuring that product designs meet all intended application and design requirements by working with experts in other functional teamsProvide technical support through Sourcing for fabricator assessment and interfaces.Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the businessParticipate and lead teams assigned to address specific organizational initiativesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.Minimum 10 years of experience working in an engineering design environment.Eligibility RequirementsAbility and willingness to travel to domestic and international plant sites (Less than 10% travel).The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered.This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment.Desired Characteristics – What will make you stand out?Experience analyzing, and solving moderately complex design problemsStrong oral and written communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to write organized engineering documentsStrong interpersonal and proven leadership skillsKnowledge of Geometric Design & Tolerancing (GD&T) practicesKnowledge of the ASME (preference for BPVC) / AWS codesProficiency with Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD designProficiency with ANSYS FEA analysisThe base pay range for this position is $112 - 160k. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity.
