POSITION SUMMARY:
The Field Test Contractor Field Engineering Representative (FER) is responsible for interacting with teams to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret testing for military vehicles and related systems. This includes working on developmental and operational testing and performing both software and hardware troubleshooting to keep vehicles operational for testing purposes. The FER will utilize technical documentation such as manuals and engineering drawings to resolve issues. They will also coordinate with engineers to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software incidents, test failures, and vehicle configuration issues, as well as install and integrate hardware modifications.
The FER must generate daily progress reports, including logs and incident reports, and be familiar with systems engineering, subsystem engineering, and reliability concepts. They will also need to understand electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, software, and fire control systems. The role involves leading and guiding mechanics, drivers, test directors, and other personnel during maintenance activities. Creativity and technical judgment are crucial in supporting an aggressive testing schedule.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • 3-5 years of experience operating or maintaining military wheeled or tracked vehicles, with a preference for vehicle maintenance experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in developmental or operational testing, or a combination of military and testing experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must meet specific safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in writing technical logs and incident reports related to hardware and software issues.
  • Ability to provide subject matter expertise and training as needed.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing faults and conducting root cause analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to guide and direct teams with limited supervision.
  • Competence in troubleshooting automotive and weapons systems and recommending solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Travel will be required approximately 30-40% of the time.
