BAS Project Engineer

Schneider Electric is searching for a Project Engineer specializing in Building Automation System (BAS) to make an impact within our organization.

This position will sit within our Digital Buildings organization based in Houston. In this role you will be responsible for project coordination, safety, software checkout, commissioning, and software troubleshooting. Additionally, you will ensure that daily activities on site for projects are completed.

You will have the opportunity to develop and refine your technical and leadership skills as you gain and apply your knowledge with the goal of simultaneously advancing your personal brand and the Schneider Electric brand in the marketplace.

As a BAS Project Engineer, a typical day for you might include:
  1. Ensuring all design engineer activity is aligned with latest conformed construction documents prior to installation.
  2. Modifying and updating design drawings and maintaining red line documents.
  3. Collaborating with project manager and procurement personnel on purchasing activity and monitoring budget risks.
  4. Ensuring materials are being delivered to site or subcontractors for installation.
  5. Validating hardware and project installation meet design requirements.
  6. Diagnosing communication problems, troubleshooting, and tracking software and hardware issues.
  7. Participating in field quality control or safety audits and reviewing analysis and results.
  8. Coordinating with on-site contractors for the installation of equipment based on shop drawings.
  9. Acting as primary point of contact for subcontractors during installation phase.
  10. Coordinating and addressing issues during installation phase independently.
  11. Collaborating with the Project Manager to coordinate projects through the installation phase and provide feedback for manpower requirements.
  12. Contributing to a complete operation to service turnover process.
  13. Responsibility for overall system functionality/performance.
  14. Setup of outside ISP connections and remote connectivity to customer sites.


And on some days, you may:
  1. Re-commissioning devices, equipment, and software as required.
  2. Assist the PM in material procurement.
  3. Ensure installation tracking sheets are updated regularly.
  4. Prepare customer-training manuals and provide customized training.


This may be the next step in your career journey if you have:
  1. 4 + years' experience as a Systems Application Engineer with related industry knowledge.
  2. Demonstrated communication skills for interfacing directly with customers and other trades.
  3. Experience with HVAC and security installations.
  4. Proficiency in all types of building systems and application of our technology.
  5. Proven experience coordinating project team activities on site, including coordination with other trades, commissioning agents, and customers.
