Job Requirements / Description

About Allora Labs:
Allora Labs' mission is to commoditize all forms of intelligence. Operating at the intelligence layer of the AI stack, we believe that building at the intersection of crypto and AI is the optimal path to achieving our mission.

As crypto-natives and ML experts with experience across leading Web3 projects, large finance companies, and large tech companies, our team combines deep blockchain knowledge with world-class technical capabilities. We’re backed by top crypto venture funds and angel investors who share our vision for the future of digital ownership.

At Allora Labs, we nurture our people just as much as our products, providing an environment where top talent can thrive at the intersection of crypto and AI. Together, we’re building the infrastructure to enable financial markets for anything. Join us as we shape the next frontier.

We are seeking a senior engineer to join our growing team, responsible for the design and development of the Allora protocol and its associated infrastructure. This role involves protocol engineering, distributed systems expertise, game-theoretic design, and a critical eye towards security, performance, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop high-quality, well-tested code in Go, primarily, but also NodeJS, TypeScript, and Python to assist in peripheral efforts
  • Unblock yourself
  • Collaborate with our research and customer-facing teams to bring features and products to life
  • Participate in system architecture, protocol design, and decision-making to ensure security and minimize attack surface
  • Own the entire lifecycle of short-term projects, from tech spec to final implementation to obtaining and implementing user feedback
  • Assess implications of game theoretic structures, considering economic, scalability, and usability concerns
  • Be meaningfully helpful and communicative to those writing documentation about your systems. Iterate with them
  • Be curious and proactive in learning about web3, Cosmos, economic structures

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience building and maintaining distributed systems
  • A high degree of paranoia about system failure, the loss of billions of dollars of user funds, and reputational catastrophe to ensure that you can contribute to avoiding these outcomes
  • A high degree of dynamic intelligence and curiosity to ensure that you can be effective diving into new tasks or roles that you have never performed
  • Sufficient software engineering experience that language, tech stack, etc. don't slow you down
  • Experience with both relational and key-value data stores
  • Experience debugging, profiling, and tracing to solve performance and correctness issues
  • Proactive communicator, fluent in English and able to collaborate effectively with multiple teams
  • Hustle and dedication

Nice to Have:

  • Cosmos SDK familiarity
  • Low-level network programming experience
  • Devops skills, familiarity with cloud infra platforms and/or bare metal
  • Interest or experience with Machine Learning at any depth
  • Experience with documenting public APIs/SDKs or building tooling (clients, utilities, etc.)
  • Familiarity with distributed event streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka)
  • Notable presence in the crypto community
  • An understanding of why it's possible to build a fully-functional Tetris clone using nothing but PostgresQL

This is a fully remote role, and all time zones are welcomed. However:

  • We communicate frequently (and efficiently) as needed. No silent contributors.
  • We have several recurring weekly meetings with mandatory attendance. These are kept as short, small, and focused as possible.
  • To mitigate scheduling difficulties, we break down the broader team into smaller project teams.
  • Nevertheless, most of our team is in the US/EU, and we need everyone to be able to be mostly available during US/EU business hours.

This Organization Participates in E-Verify

Allora Labs is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity at our company and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
