Job Description
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for planning, organizing and controlling overall Manufacturing programs which will result in significant advancements in safety, quality, product delivery, product cost, and/or the maintenance of the plant facilities equipment and its production process. They will perform a wide variety of engineering and technical tasks involving the application of engineering knowledge and the development of solutions to complex problems pertaining to products, materials, manufacturing processes, tests, and unique design applications. They will focus on the development of robust manufacturing processes with an emphasis on automation and implementing engineering controls to ensure that product Critical to Quality Characteristics are achieved.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide leadership and commitment in supporting continuous improvements in safety quality, delivery, and cost (productivity) performance through the deployment of continuous improvement framework; participates in and supports their assigned Value Stream team as well as manages global plant projects.
- Supports and champions Environmental Health and Safety projects to promote a Zero Incident Safety Culture.
- Identifies and resolves opportunities, gathers and analyzes information, develops and implements actions plans to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
- Manage all assigned projects in support of division, plant, and project objectives.
- Develop approaches to solving problems in processes, tooling, equipment, facilities and cost.
- Plans, details, and implements required industrialization methods, tooling and equipment into the manufacturing operation.
- Develop specifications, secures quotations, and provides justification for expense and capital expenditures within planned budgets.
- Control manufacturing processes, equipment and facilities to meet Federal and State Regulations.
- Develop and implement cost reductions to meet or exceed departmental and plant goals.
- Provide support to Quality Programs to improve product, process and procedural integrity.
Background & Skills
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technical Science degree from an accredited institution required.
- Minimum 2 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Six Sigma Green Belt and / Lean Champion Certification.
- Experience in processing equipment, tooling, and fixturing design.
- Proficient in product industrialization.
- Experience with 2-D and 3-D Design (AutoCAD, Solidworks, ProE or others).
- Ability to write specifications for PLC and HMI applications; programming and interface experience a plus.
- Experience managing a capital expenditure project; develop of specifications, securing quotation, evaluation, and selection of vendors; project planning, installation, and commissioning of the equipment.
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles to drive out cost and improve process quality.
- Experience implementing Kanban, shop floor inventory management, and product flow projects.
