About the Team:

The Marketplace Engineering team is a well-rounded, passionate engineering organization focused on all aspects of Seller with a sharp focus on Engineering and operational excellence. This role works closely with Engineering Managers, Lead engineers, SRE, TechOps, and leaders across the organization to lead Engineering Excellence & Developer Productivity by working side by side with engineering teams. You will need to focus on creating a working model with a few teams and expand that to the entire organization to inculcate a Quality first, fail-fast mindset that relies on automation and leverage.

What you'll do:

  1. Identify, develop, and execute opportunities to raise the bar on engineering & operational excellence.
  2. Provide thought leadership and define strategy on developer productivity.
  3. Partner with Platform teams and with engineering teams to drive adoption of CI/CD tools and processes.
  4. Establish and align clear measurable goals to reduce incidents, drive accountability, and overall operational excellence.
  5. Champion Engineering and Operational excellence goals for the organization, aligning with the broader organization to bring learnings and best practices to teams.
  6. Champion architecture initiatives to increase platform resiliency for complex business processes.
  7. Act as a single point of contact in driving cloud optimizations in partnership with the SRE team.
  8. Be bold and take calculated risks.
  9. Understand SaaS, PaaS, IaaS industry with hands-on experience with public or private cloud offerings.

What you’ll bring:

  1. 10+ years' experience in leading engineering teams, Engineering Excellence, and/or Developer Productivity initiatives.
  2. Experience with public cloud (Azure/GCP) and private cloud.
  3. Well versed in architecture disciplines and executed in developing high-performance, large scalable, and resilient enterprise systems.
  4. Proven track record of driving test automation to single-click deployments.
  5. Java experience with SQL, NoSQL, Messaging, Queuing, Caching.
  6. Strong experience with Networking concepts, Security, CDNs, Cloud Services (Azure and GCP preferred), DevOps, Kubernetes.
  7. Experience with logging, monitoring, alerting best practices and tools such as Prometheus/Grafana, Dynatrace, Splunk highly desirable.
  8. A go-getter approach to problem-solving to work across organizations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area. We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
