Job Description

CSCI Consulting is hiring a Java Developer for a federal client. The developer will be researching, designing, implementing, and managing software programs as well as testing and evaluating new programs.

Responsibilities

  1. Participates in application architecture design reviews. Translating business and technical requirements into application architecture definition and designing alternatives/solutions to meet business requirements.
  2. Reviews, analyzes, and identifies computer systems functional and system requirements.
  3. Participates on teams that outline the process and scope out improvements that can be realized through the application solution.
  4. Evaluates and performs design tradeoffs regarding the architecture and software components.
  5. Maintains highly complex and technical applications and systems.
  6. Revises and updates applications, procedures, and systems, including rewrites to documentation and operating instructions as necessary.
  7. Provides mentoring to associate analyst/programmers.
  8. Resolves problems with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements. Writing and implementing efficient code.
  9. Develop quality assurance procedures and deploy software tools, processes, and metrics. Works closely with other developers, UX designers, business, and systems analysts. Acts as team leader on projects.
  10. Participates in development of software user manuals.
  11. Instructs, assigns, directs, and checks the work of other software developers on development team.
  12. Consults with engineering staff to evaluate software-hardware interfaces and develop specifications and performance requirements.
  13. Must provide support during software deployments and server Patching during maintenance windows.
  14. Provide production support when required including during off hours.

Minimum Requirements

  1. A minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years’ relevant experience.
  2. A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is required. If the individual's degree is not in the applicable field, then four additional years of related experience is required.
  3. Languages: Java, Oracle SQL/PLSQL
  4. Frameworks: J2EE, REST API, MVC, JSF, JPA, EJB, JDBC, XML, DTD/XSD
  5. Web/Front End: JSP, Servlets, AJAX, JavaScript, JSON, CSS, XML, HTML, jQuery, DHTML Concepts OOAD, UML, Design Patterns, Data Modeling
  6. Automated Testing: Junit, Selenium
  7. Agile scrum methodologies
